Proprietors' Wine List

White Wine

Hamilton Russell Chardonnay 2004, Walker Bay, Hermanus, South Africa

Being one of the most southern wineries in South Africa, the climate provides a perfect place for Chardonnay. Toast, smoke and grilled nut aromas are captivating, with lush pear, tartine, fig, pineapple and honey flavors that are seamlessly stitched together. Long, luxurious finish. Terrific stuff. 2,560 cases produced.

Pierre Sparr Riesling 2003, Alsace, France

Floral and pine aromas followed by peach and mineral flavors mark this fresh, balanced Riesling.  It leaves mouthwatering impression on the lingering finish.  7,000 cases produced.

Stags’ Leap Winery Viognier 2003, Stags Leap District,
Napa Valley, California

Appealing for its ripe, fleshy pear and peach flavors, with hints of vanilla, fresh herb and lemon on the finish. A perfect wine with salad, salmon and our seafood papier.1,800 cases produced.

Red Wine

Stags’ Leap Winery Reserve Merlot 2000, Stags Leap District,
Napa Valley, California

Aromas of black currant, boysenberry, and dark chocolate intermingle with cinnamon, cardamom and clove spice nuances. On the lush mid-palate, red cherry and raspberry fruit flavors are highlighted by a bright, well-integrated acidity. Berry fruit, chocolate and licorice are carried into a long, full-bodied finish. The best Merlot I’ve ever tasted. 542 cases produced.

Chateau St Jean Cinq Cépages 2000, Sonoma County, California

Smooth and harmonious, with ripe, rich, supple plum and blackberry fruit, shaded by cedar, anise, black cherry and spice attributes. Firms up and flexes its tannic strength on the finish. Yet another good year for Cinq.15,500 cases produced.

Ernie Els 2002, Stellenbosh, South Africa

Not a wine to be compared with substandard wines from other golf personalities. Gorgeous, with polished currant, cocoa, boysenberry and toast aromas and flavors, supported by a seamless texture. You almost get lost in the long, dense, yet precise, finish that picks up Lapsang souchong tea leaf and black fig notes. A sleek thoroughbred of a wine, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec.

Hewitt Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2002, Rutherford Bench, Napa, California

A 100% Cabernet Sauvignon that opens with an entrancing violet aroma, then unfolds its richness in the mouth, with juicy ripe plum, rich olive, and round tobacco fruit, graced by just a hint of oak graham, which serves to further frame the fruit and push it forward. The wine is fleshy and well integrated, and thus a bit on the subtle side. 1,400 cases produced.

Travaglini Gattinara Tre Vigne 1997, Piedmont, Italy

One of the best vintages from Piedmont. Travaglini has bright ripe berry character and hints of Indian spices and pepper. Full-bodied, with soft, velvety tannins and a medium, fruity aftertaste. A delicious modern wine. Rumor has it that the bottle is shaped to fit Pope John Paul II's hand. 2,300 cases produced.

Archery Summit Premier Cuvée Pinot Noir 2003, Willamette Valley, Oregon

Nicely aromatic, with pretty plum, spice and floral flavors on a lithe frame. Ripe berry and chocolate notes emerge on the finish and echo enticingly. Supple and stylish, with very good intensity. 2,809 cases produced.

Elk Cove Vineyards Mount Richmond Pinot Noir 2003, Willamette Valley, Oregon

A delicious Pinot Noir with vivid fresh clean raspberry, strawberry and vanilla flavors that are very well balanced and beautifully put together. Has elegance and finesse, showing early complexity. 470 cases produced.

Stags’ Leap Winery Ne Cede Malis 2000, Stags Leap District,
Napa Valley, California

Latin phrase “Don’t give in to misfortune,” Aromas of black fruits wrapped in orange peel, roasted nut, clove and vanilla bean. This inky, almost blue black, full bodied wine boasts flavors of blackberry, black currant, cherry, licorice and cassis. 950 cases produced.

Rosemount Balmoral Syrah 2000, Australia

Rosemount’s flagship. Stylish and aristocratic, smooth and ripe up front, offering brilliant blackberry, cherry, red pepper and spice aromas and flavors, which pick up a solid base of firm tannins as they last and last on the beautifully focused finish. New world in style, but old world in elegance. 8,000 cases produced.
